Founded in 1810, the Brandenburger Symphoniker is the official symphony orchestra of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel. One of Brandenburg's longest-standing music ensembles, the orchestra numbers among the outstanding cultural institutions in the German state of Brandenburg. The unique orchestral sound of the ensemble and its broad repertoire extending from the Classical and Romantic periods to the most recent works of New Music thrills concert audiences around the world. The Brandenburger Symphoniker are in high demand at concert halls in Germany and at international centers of music. Concert tours have taken the orchestra, currently consisting of musicians from ten different countries, to the major cities of Europe, Asia and the Americas. The orchestra has given celebrated performances in Peking, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Madrid, Sofia, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Kyoto. The Brandenburger Symphoniker have regularly appeared at festivals such as
Festival MúsicaMallorca and the Rheinsberg Castle Chamber Opera Festival.
