Recording Philosophy

GENUIN stands for high-quality classical productions, for uncompromisingly good recording technology as well as for a trusting and creative atmosphere between artists and producers.

This was already the case in 1998, when the two Detmold sound engineers and company founders Holger Busse and Alfredo Lasheras Hakobian made their first recordings together. GENUIN, that's how they wanted their recordings to be: natural, authentic, real. And that's how it has remained to this day.

For a successful interpretation to become an outstanding recording, two things are necessary - then as now:

Firstly, there is the sound, or more precisely the interaction between instrument, hall and recording equipment. To achieve this, GENUIN produces in selected concert halls and churches, with high-quality mobile recording technology that captures the music in all its nuances and liveliness.

However, the atmosphere during the recordings is at least as important. The many artists who return to GENUIN again and again after their first album know it: the very special positive and creative atmosphere during productions. Because only when microphones and recording are completely forgotten can it be about the music - and that's where the GENUIN secret lies.

Recording Technology

GENUIN is equipped with the latest digital and mobile multi-track technology for stereo, surround and Dolby Atmos recordings. The transmission medium between the recording room and the control room is MADI fiber optic cable, which can transport the audio signal to the control room over hundreds of meters without quality loss.

Our modular technology enables us to produce up to two orchestral and two chamber music productions simultaneously. We only rely on well-known manufacturers and proven technology:

- Microphones from Neumann, Schoeps and Sennheiser

- Microphone preamplifiers and A/D converters 'Micstasy' from RME

- Speakers: B&W 802/805 diamond (surround), Dynaudio Air 6 (surround), Quad ESL 63 (electrostatic)

- Up to 300m fiber optic multicore with 4 x 64 channels

- Hard disk recording up to 24bit/192kHz with Sequoia and ProTools

- Recordings in stereo, surround and Dolby Atmos

This high-quality technology naturally plays a decisive role in GENUIN recordings. But it is only through the careful use of this technology, the exact positioning of the microphones, the precise mixing of the music and, above all, the many years of experience of the sound engineers that first-class recordings are achieved.
