One is “almost overwhelmed by the wealth of timbres.” (Crescendo) Bettina Aust inspires audiences with her dynamic and sensitive playing both as an outstanding soloist and as a passionate chamber musician. First Prizes at the 2015 German Music Competition and the 2014 International Instrumental Competition Markneukirchen paved the way for her successful career.
Bettina Aust is principal clarinetist of the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra and teaches at the Leopold Mozart Center of the University of Augsburg. She received her musical training from Sabine Meyer (Lübeck), Johannes Peitz (Hanover), and Pascal Moraguès (Paris). She loves the magical atmosphere and glorious colors in Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny.
The Duo Aust featuring siblings Bettina and Robert Aust is one of the world’s leading ensembles for clarinet and piano. Concert recordings presented by all major German radio broadcasters offer testimony of the duo’s more than twenty-year-long collaboration. In 2016 the siblings’ first CD was released to great acclaim on the GENUIN classics label.
One of the special focuses of the Duo Aust is on intercultural musical projects. In recent years the duo has undertaken concert tours to Latin America, North Africa, and the Middle East, worked with local musicians and composers, and given master classes at local music academies.
