Matthias Foremny

Matthias Foremny became the first principle guest conductor at the Leipzig Opera at the start of the 2011/2012 season and the principle conductor of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra from the 2013/2014 season. Over the last few years, he has regularly been invited to guest conduct at the Hamburg State Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. As a concert conductor, he has worked with the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the NDR Hamburg, among others. At the beginning of the 2014/2015 season, he was appointed professor of conducting at the University of Music and Theater Leipzig.
Matthias Foremny is passionate about establishing a direct and personal contact with his listeners, particularly in the form of concerts in which he talks to his audience. Be it as a teacher or as a judge in international competitions, he is committed to addressing a young audience and young musicians.
