Robert Langbein studied the horn at The Liszt School of Music Weimar under Prof. Rainer Heimbuch. In 2001 he continued his studies at the Berlin University of the Arts under Prof. Christian-Friedrich Dallmann and graduated in 2008 with distinction. He received his first engagement as solo horn player in the Konzerthausorchester Berlin whilst he was still studying. Numerous prizes and awards followed, including first prize at the International Competition Markneukirchen in 2004 and at the Kurt Alten Competition in Hanover, as well as a special award for natural horns at the Concours de Genève. In 2010 he received the Horn Prize of the Michael Schuncke Foundation in Baden-Baden. Since 2005 Robert Langbein has been the solo horn player of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and holds a temporary professorship at the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music. Robert Langbein lectures at various national and international master classes (Pacific Music Festival, brass master class with the Sorbian National-Ensemble etc.).
