Olivia Vermeulen studied voice with Julie Kaufmann at Berlin’s Universität der Künste. Master classes with Andreas Scholl, Thomas Quasthoff, René Jacobs and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau completed her education. In 2008 she was a prize winner at the Bavarian State Radio’s ‘La voce’ international song competition. From 2008 to 2010 she was engaged as a soloist at Berlin’s Komische Oper. In 2010 and 2011 Olivia Vermeulen worked with such internationally recognized orchestras and conductors as Christoph Spering, Peter Eötvös, Lothar Zagrosek, Marek Janowksi, Philippe Herreweghe and Vladimir Jurowski. In October 2010 she sang the principal role in “L’Enfant e les Sortilèges” by Ravel at the season opening of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. She has recorded a solo recital disc of Italian Baroque arias with the Lautten Compagney Berlin.
