“Devoted tonal culture at its finest!” says Hessischer Rundfunk about the Chamber Philharmonic Metamorphosen Berlin. Founded in 2010 in Berlin by violinist Indira Koch and cellist Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, this ensemble has set standards with its award-winning recordings. Their first CD, Inspiration, featuring works by Dvorák, Suk, and Victor Herbert, was released in 2015. In April 2017, their second CD, featuring the complete string works of Peter Tchaikovsky, was released. The 2021 album Very British, featuring works by Elgar, Britten, Warlock, and Jenkins, prompted BBC Magazine to write, “This is an album that should redefine what it means to be ‘very British.’”

Musicians from Berlin’s leading orchestras, renowned chamber musicians, and international prize winners come together at Metamorphosen and perform with famous soloists such as Johannes Moser, Gary Hoffman, Frans Helmerson, Julius Berger, Jens Peter Maintz, Young-Chang Cho, and Camille Thomas.

Metamorphosen Berlin passionately dedicates itself to new music. Composers such as Helmut Abel, Sören Nils Eichberg, and George Alexander Albrecht have written works specifically for the ensemble. In the 2022–23 season, Metamorphosen Berlin welcomed the renowned composer Enjott Schneider as their first Composer in Residence. Together, they created new concert formats, including a musical adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, featuring Dietmar Wunder, the German voice of James Bond, as the narrator.
