Christophe Pantillon was born in Neuchâtel; he stems from a family of musicians of Swiss and American origin. His first violoncello lessons he received in his home town from J.-P. Guy and from Elena Botez in Berne. Afterwards, he continued his studies with Heinrich Schiff at the Basel Academy of Music. Further studies with Valentin Erben (Alban Berg Quartett) at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and with Ralph Kirshbaum at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester followed. Master classes with, amongst others, Mischa Maisky in Siena round off his musical expertise.
Since 1992, Pantillon has been living in Vienna, where he co-founded the Aron Quartett in 1998. He is member of various chamber music ensembles and performs regularly as a duo with his wife, the violinist Klara Flieder.
Christophe Pantillon has recorded numerous chamber music CDs, many of which have been awarded with international prizes. His concert activities have taken Christophe Pantillon to Vienna (Musikverein, Konzerthaus), Salzburg (Mozarteum), London (Wigmore Hall), Washington D.C. (Library of Congress), Paris (Opéra Bastille), and Tokyo (Casals Hall).
