Tobias Berndt
Baritone
The baritone Tobias Berndt studied singing with Hermann Christian Polster in Leipzig and Rudolf Piernay in Mannheim. He also studied with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Thomas Quasthoff. As an established concert singer, his association with conductors such as Hans Christoph Rademann, Philippe Herreweghe, Helmuth Rilling, Sir Simon Rattle, Herbert Bloomstedt and Teodor Currentzis has led him to perform with major orchestras throughout Europe. He also appears regularly at renowned festivals in Germany and abroad.
In addition to numerous opera engagements, he was involved in the performance of the Wagner cycle under Marek Janowski in “Die Meistersinger” . Furthermore, Tobias Berndt is a sought-after lied singer. He has won the “Das Lied – International Song Competition” in Berlin and the “Brahms Competition” in Pörtschach.
