Christian Mattick studied in Munich with Paul Meisen as well as with Aurèle Nicolet and Philippe Boucly. He is a member of the Bavarian Chamber Orchestra and co-founder of the Ensemble Cassander – Music of the 20th Century Munich. He performs concerts throughout Europe in diff erent chamber music formations such as the Duo Mattick Huth, the Pegasus Trio, and the Ensemble Bach34.
His television appearances on ZDF, BR, and ARD and radio broadcasts for Bayerischer Rundfunk, SWR, Hessischer Rundfunk, and Radio Bremen are supplemented by numerous CD productions. He received the Children to Olympus award of the Cultural Foundation of the German Federal States, the Music Advancement Award of the City of Munich, and the Inventio Award of the German Music Council.
In addition to his solo career, Mattick was joined by other Munich musicians in launching the Music You Can Touch initiative, which introduces children and young people to an active musical life in a non-dogmatic way.
Duo Mattick Etschmann
The two renowned Munich soloists Christian Mattick and Thomas Etschmann have been performing together as a duo since 2005. With their fascinating and varied concert programs, they have since been touring all over Germany with great success.
Duo Mattick Huth
Over the course of their longtime collaboration and performances throughout Europe, the Duo Mattick Huth has specialized in thematic programs that frequently combine music and text. With Christian Mattick as flutist and narrator and pianist Mathias Huth, audiences experience a meeting of the arts: between music and language, words and sound. The Duo has a special affinity for music of the early 20 th century and from Franz Schubert’s time.
