Cello
Michael Heupel, born in Athens in 1988, is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. He was a scholarship holder of the Onassis Foundation in Athens, the HfMT Hamburg, and the Alfred Toepfer Foundation. His inventive spirit was recognized by the 2014 Masefield Concert Scholarship, an invitation to speak at the TEDxAcademy in Athens in 2016, and his acceptance as a participant of the Future of Orchestral Culture Fellowship in 2017.
His first solo CD Afierossis was highly praised by the press and selected by the Cello Foundation USA as one of the five best cello recordings of 2017. He plays a 1723 cello made by David Tecchler in Rome.
