Andreas Hepp
Piano, Percussion, Marimbaphone, Composer
Andreas Hepp has diverse talents and is an established name in the Frankfurt/Main music scene: Whether as a skillful percussionist or pianist, chamber music partner, orchestra member or soloist, who moves easily between musical styles, or as an imaginative composer, arranger and initiator of and driving force behind innovative crossover projects, Andreas Hepp’s artistic output is multifaceted. The son of a clarinetist and pianist initially studied the piano and violin before turning to percussion instruments. He majored in percussion at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt/Main and pursued further studies on the marimba with Robert van Sice at the Codarts Rotterdam. His considerable talent helped Andreas Hepp win various awards for young musicians as well as a scholarship to the Villa Musica from 1993 to 1997. In addition to his regular position as a percussionist with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony (hr-Sinfonieorchester), including appearing as a soloist in works by Ennio Morricone and Tōru Takemitsu, Andreas Hepp also performs with various chamber music formations including Ensemble Modern. He is regularly invited to perform and give seminars in Thessaloniki, Greece as well as in Detmold and Dessau in Germany.
