ince making her Lincoln Center solo debut in 2006 in Alice Tully Hall, violinist So Jin Kim has been hailed by critics and audiences for her musical lyricism, technical brilliance, and ravishing tone. She has performed across the world in halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Musikverein Golden Hall, the KKL Luzern, the Seoul Arts Center, and the Philharmonie in Berlin. So Jin Kim has frequently appeared as a soloist with ensembles such as the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, I Musici de Montréal, the Seoul Chamber Ensemble, and the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. As an active chamber musician, she has been invited to Festival dei Due Mondi, Kissinger Sommer, the MoMA Summergarden Concert Series, La Jolla Summerfest, and Sangat Chamber Music Festival, collaborating with Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Gautier Capuçon, Cho Liang Lin, and Lynn Harrell, among others. At the age of 24, she was appointed concertmaster of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, with whom she played until 2013, and has been a guest concertmaster with numerous orchestras throughout Germany and Switzerland. At the age of 16, So Jin Kim was accepted to the Bachelor of Music
Degree Program at the Juilliard School and has received both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Juilliard School with Cho-Liang Lin and Naoko Tanaka. So Jin Kim also holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Rice University in Houston, Texas. In Europe, she has worked with Krzysztof Wegrzyn at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, where she also joined the faculty in 2014. In addition, So Jin Kim has served as the artistic director of Yeosu International Music Festival & Ensemble since 2017.
