Paolo Bonomini
Cello
Following his solo debut at the age of 15, the Brescian-born cellist Paolo Bonomini quickly established himself as a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. As winner of the first prize at the XX. International J.S. Bach Competition in Leipzig, Paolo has gone on to perform across Europe, South America and Australia.
He has studied with Mario Brunello, Antonio Meneses and Jens Peter Maintz and received further training from Giovanni Sollima, Enrico Dindo and David Geringas.
As a soloist, Paolo has been invited to perform with numerous orchestras, including the Orchestra del Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo, the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, Virtuosi di Praga, the Odessa Chamber Orchestra, the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Bern and the Pauliner Kammerorchester.
Alongside his solo activities, Paolo is also the cellist of the Boccherini Trio. This spirited and upcoming string trio, which has been coached by Rainer Schmidt and Hatto Beyerle, gave its debut performance at the Wigmore Hall in early 2016. Paolo frequently performs on the Italian national radio RAI 3 and has given concerts together with Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Giuranna, Franco Petracchi and Giovanni Sollima in some of the most notable theatres in Italy, including the Teatro Comunale Ponchielli, Teatro Olimpico, Teatro di San Carlo, Teatro Carlo Felice, Teatro La Fenice and various other venues.
Paolo has been a member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and has served as guest principal cellist with the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, Camerata Bern and Camerata Salzburg and has performed under the direction of Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons, Daniele Gatti, Herbert Blomstedt, Sir Roger Norrington and Riccardo Muti.
