Born in Sapporo, Japan, Erika Mikami studied at the renowned Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Muisc (Japan) in the class of Vadim Sakharov. In 2013 she continued her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Michael Schäfer. She continued with a piano master class certificate program and completed her Master’s degree in new music in July 2016.
Mikami has been invited to national and international music festivals and concerts. In 2014 she was a prizewinner at the Troisdorf International Piano Competition. In 2016 she won first prize in piano at the Kulturkreis Gasteig Music Competition in Munich. Alongside her solo career, she is a sought-after piano partner and is involved in numerous chamber music projects in Germany and abroad.
