Christopher Tarnow studied sound engineering with a focus on piano with Matthias Petersen and Nerine Barrett at the University of Music Detmold and composition with Reinhard Pfundt at the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig. Since 2008 he has been working as a recording engineer at Leipzig-based GENUIN while also completing productions for various labels and radio broadcasters, including recordings with the Munich Philharmonic, the MDR Symphony Orchestra, and the Philharmonie Baden-Baden, as well as with concert artists Kit Armstrong and Andreas Martin Hofmeir. His CD productions have been commended with the ECHO Klassik (2013), the Icelandic Music Award (2012), and have been nominated for other awards. As a composer, he works closely with pianist Hardy Rittner, for whom he composed, among other works, his piano concerto Canticum Canticorum, which was given its world premiere in September 2015 with the Noord Nederlands Orkest under Peter Kuhn.
