Born in Essen, Germany, Nicolai Gerassimez studied with Prof. Josef Anton Scherrer at the Musikhochschule Köln, with Julia Goldstein-Manz in Hanover, with Prof. Galina Iwanzowa at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin and at the Hochschule für Musik and Theater in Rostock with Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit. The young artist has won numerous national and international prizes and awards, including first prize at the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb, first prize and the audience prize at the Steinway-Klavierwettbewerb in Hamburg and several first prizes with perfect scores in the national German youth music compeition “Jugend musiziert.” In addition, he was honored with a cultural achievement award and the Aalto Bühnenpreis by his hometown of Essen. Nicolai Gerassimez is in demand as a chamber music partner and regularly performs together with Norbert Anger as well as his two brothers Alexej Gerassimez (drums) and Wassily Gerassimez (cello) in chamber music concerts. Solo concerts and recitals have already brought Nicolai Gerassimez to the most famous music centers of Europe and the United States, including concerts at the Berlin Philharmonic, London‘s Wigmore Hall, the Hamburg Laeiszhalle and the Berlin Konzerthaus, as well as to important international festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Nicolai Gerassimez also appears as a guest soloist with renowned orchestras such as for example the Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Essener Philharmoniker, the Berlin Symphoniker and the Bochum Symphoniker, and works with conductors such as Kristjan Järvi and Stefan Soltesz. Nicolai Gerassimez has been frequently featured on radio recordings with WDR, SWR, BR and NDR.
