The Swedish tenor Martin Nyvall studied at the conservatories in Copenhagen and Karlsruhe with, among others, Donald Litaker, Anthony Rolfe Johnson, Lars Waage and Joseph Protschka . Before completing his studies he made his debut in Lars Graugaard’s opera “Flugten” as Niklas at the Fynske Opera in Odense, Denmark . After an engagement at the Lucerne Theater where he appeared in roles such as Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi) and Gomatz (Zaide), he has been a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Nürnberg since the 2009–2010 season. He has additionally appeared in concert at the Herbert Karajan Festival in the Baden-Baden Festival Hall under the direction of Thomas Hengelbrock, as well as in a number of productions at festivals in Lucerne . In addition to operatic roles, Martin Nyvall devotes a large portion of his time to concert appearances . Here, engagements as a singer who is highly sought after throughout Europe led him to among others the Philharmonie am Gasteig München, Zurich’s Tonhalle and the Handel Festival in Halle. For a number of years he has dedicated himself increasingly to singing lieder . In 2001 and 2002 Martin Nyvall received several scholarships from his native Sweden and in 2003 was the winner of a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association in Karlsruhe . In May 2005 he sang at the memorial concert honoring Lennart Bernadotte Count of Wisborg on the island of Mainau in Lake Constance.
