Frederic Belli began taking trombone lessons at the age of nine. From 1996 to 2002 he was an advanced placement with Prof. Werner Schrietter at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe. After that he began his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover with Prof . Jonas Bylund, from whom he is still taking lessons. Frederic Belli is a prize winner and winner of a number of national and international competitions such as the Prager Frühling, the Jan Koetsier Competition (Munich), the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Competition (Berlin) and the Christian Lindberg Competition (Valencia). In March 2007 he was the first trombonist to win in the thirty year history of the German Music Competition, in the fall of 2007 he won second prize at the ARD International Music Competition and the Brüder-Busch Special Prize. In addition to this, he is the holder of a scholarship from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. Since October 2006 Frederic Belli has been solo trombonist with the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra of Baden-Baden and Freiburg. In addition to numerous concert appearances as a soloist performing with a pianist or with full orchestra, Frederic Belli is a member of the Trio Belli-Fischer-Rimmer.
