Christian Hommel

Christian Hommel studied oboe in Freiburg with Heinz Holliger and piano with James Avery. He is a recognized specialist in period performance practice and at the same time a champion of the music of our time. Mr. Hommel is a Professor for Oboe at the University of the Arts in Bremen. Some of his numerous CD recordings have received the prestigous German Record Critics’ Award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik). He has been a member of Ensemble Modern since 2008.
