Quartetto Werther

Founded in 2016, the Quartetto Werther is considered one of the most promising chamber music ensembles on the national and international concert scene. The Quartet has been shaped by the musicianship of the Trio di Parma and the pianist Pierpaolo Maurizzi as well as by Patrick Jüdt and the Middle European school of the European Chamber Music Academy.

Since its founding, the Quartet has collaborated with the most important Italian and foreign musical institutions, including the Società del Quartetto di Milano, the Fondazione La Società dei Concerti Milano, the Società dei Concerti di Trieste, the Festival dei Due Mondi, the International House of Music Moscow, the Goetheanum Dornach (Switzerland), the Festival Musikdorf Ernen, and others.

At the 39th edition of the Abbiati Award the Quartet won the Piero Farulli Prize, dedicated to the best young ensemble in 2020, and the Premio Sinopoli, presented directly by President Sergio Mattarella and dedicated to the best students of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in 2022. In the class of Carlo Fabiano, the Quartet received a “special distinction for their exceptional chamber music skills,” a recognition never before awarded in more than eighty years of the Accademia‘s courses.

They have been highly rated by international juries and won prizes at the international chamber music competitions Trio di Trieste 2019, Pinerolo e Torino – Città Metropolitana 2023, and Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award 2024 in Lugano.

Since 2018 the Quartetto Werther has been a member of Le Dimore del Quartetto. In 2021 the Quartet released its first CD, Fauré Piano Quartets, which received excellent reviews.
