The pianist Tomoko Ogasawara received her initial musical education at the University of the Arts in her hometown of Tokyo. She continued her instrumental studies in Europe at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Freiburg University of Music, where she graduated with distinction in her soloist diploma. Previously, she won first prize at the competition of music universities in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Her formative teachers include Georg Sava, Tibor Hazay, and György Sebők, who guided her early artistic successes, including becoming a finalist in international competitions such as the Maria Canals International Music Competition in Barcelona and the International Clara Haskil Piano Competition in Montreux.

Since then, Tomoko Ogasawara has regularly appeared as a soloist on stages across the international music scene, collaborating with orchestras such as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, and the Kammerphilharmonie Bamberg, as well as chamber music formations including the Franconia Piano Trio and Ensemble Abraxas, and at international festivals like the Affinis Music Festival in Japan.

Her chamber music partners have included Albrecht Mayer, Jörg Widmann, and Tabea Zimmermann. Additionally, she formed a piano duo with Cristian Petrescu, which debuted at the Berliner Philharmonie.

Tomoko Ogasawara has numerous radio recordings and CD releases to her credit. In celebration of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s 250th anniversary, she performed his complete piano sonatas.

Currently, Tomoko Ogasawara shares her extensive musical experience as a faculty member at the Freiburg University of Music and through masterclasses in Tokyo, Yokohama, and Okayama (Japan), at the International Music Academy Sankt Goar (Germany), and Musicalta (France).

Her students include prizewinners of national and international competitions.
