Ulrich Roman Murtfeld
Piano
Concert pianist Ulrich Roman Murtfeld, who resides in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, originally hails from Frankfurt am Main and began his training at the city’s Dr. Hoch’s Conservatory. He continued his piano studies as a scholarship holder at the Phillips Academy Andover with Veronica Jochum in Boston/USA. Murtfeld, who also has a science degree, was strongly influenced in his artistic development by the Romanian piano teachers Ana Pitis and Ioana Minei (Bucharest) as well as Karl-Heinz Kämmerling at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. In the field of song accompaniment, he also benefited from his work with Hartmut Höll. He graduated from the Karlsruhe University of Music, earning the concert exam with distinction in 2003. During the same year he was a Brahmshaus scholarship recipient of the Brahms Society in Baden-Baden.

Frequent chamber music performances with renowned partners round out his musical activities.
Ulrich Roman Murtfeld’s repertoire ranges from Bach to Classical, Romantic, and new music. Innovative and unusual combinations of works characterize the pianist’s program selections. Composer Adriana Hölszky wrote: “I had found an ideal interpreter in Ulrich Murtfeld. His musical imagination, his subtle musical intelligence and acumen, and his splendidly vivid tonal shaping are unique.”
Murtfeld has made many successful CD and radio recordings which are regularly broadcast by international radio stations.
