Four GENUIN CDs have successfully made it onto the Longlist 4/2016 as pre-selections for the renowned independent German music prize. In the category Chamber Music the Asasello-Quartett was nominated for recording „Insights", their recording of Schoenberg’s string quartets. Moreover, the CD "Objets Trouvés", featuring works by Ligeti, Dowland, Couperin, Cage and Piazzola in the unusual combination of Accordion (Viviane Chassot) and Zither (Martin Mallaun) was also nominated.
In the category Classical Lied & Vocal Recital, the young sopranos Emaile Savoy and Eva Resch received nominations. The American Singer Emalie Savoy received a nomination for her debut CD "A Portrait", which features works by Ravel, Tchaikovsky, Dvorák, Weber and Barber. At the 2015 ARD Music Competition, not only did she win 1st prize, she was also awarded the GENUIN Prize, which entitled her to a CD production.
The singer Eva Resch was nominated twice, so to speak, with the CD "Being Beauteous" featuring songs by Verlaine and Rimbaud (set to music by Debussy and Britten) and accompanied by Francois Salignat on the piano. She was also nominated together with the Asasello Quartet for the recording of Insights.
The quarterly ‘Longlist’ of the German Record Critics' Award (PdSK) is considered as a pre-selection for the leader board and includes the best and most interesting new releases of the past three months in different categories. Evaluation criteria include artistic quality, repertory value, presentation and sound quality. The jury of the prize is made up of independent music journalists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and is as heterogeneous as the range of musical genres and spoken productions. Per jury, five experts determine and evaluate the best new productions on the market for recorded music. The winners of the 2016 German Record Critic’s Award will be made public on 14 November 2016.
