Percussionist Alexej Gerassimez Receives the VDKD Music Prize (Association of German Concert Agents)
The 10,000 Euro music prize by the Association of German Concert Agents (Verband der Deutschen Konzertdirektion, or VDKD) has been awarded to the percussionist Alexej Grassimez. The prize will be presented in Berlin on September 15th.
With the prize, the VDKD wishes to support the development of an innovative, top-quality and diverse musical life each year. Numerous soloists and ensembles from both the classical and popular scene are among the contestants.
The jury explained their decision for the 30-year old Alexej Gerassimez: “Alexej Gerassimez has outstanding musical qualities, an exceptional sense of rhythm and structure and is convincing through his enthusiastic and committed performance. His repertoire displays creative interest and encompasses both classical and modern music as well as jazz, minimal music and his own compositions. When performing with a wide array of artists, Gerassimez displays his great interest in crossing artistic boundaries. With his solo programs as a chamber musician and with his own percussion group he presents the public the entire spectrum of instruments and ensures for an immediate and impressive listening experience.”
The solo debut CD of the percussionist appears as part of GENUIN’s ‘Primavera’ series..
