The new CD of the Klenke Quartet will be presented on 7 May 2015, during a soirée at 8 p.m. in the Michaelis Church in Wolfsburg. The string quartet will be accompanied by Alexej Gerassimez on the vibraphone.
During the 2015 Movimentos Festival, the Klenke Quartet will be presenting a modern and contemporary program with Jewish origins: Karl Goldmark, a close friend of Brahms, composed lyrical music that straddled Impressionism and folk culture. The composer and psychologist Werner Wolf Glaser was a pupil of Paul Hindemith and immigrated to Scandinavia during the National Socialist period. Psychological issues, not least in regard to the Holocaust, inspire the Berlin-Israeli composer Lior Navok.
For more than 20 years, the Klenke Quartet has been enriching the chamber music scene. Annegret Klenke and Beate Hartmann (violins), Yvonne Uhlemann (viola) and Ruth Kaltenhäuser (cello) founded the quartet while studying at the Academy of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar. Since then, they have formed a homogeneous ensemble with an authentic and yet differentiated language. In addition to their precision, they convey a strong sense of color, transparency, and intensity. The Klenke Quartet makes guest appearances at renowned festivals and has received international recognition through their CD recordings.
For Navok’s quintet, Alexei Gerassimez, born in Essen, joins the Klenke Quartet on vibraphone. A recipient of numerous awards at competitions (2nd prize ARD 2014) and fellowships, he is regarded as one of the best percussionists of his generation. As a chamber musician and soloist – including an appearance with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra - he has performed in Europe, the USA and Japan. Gerassimez studied in Cologne, Berlin, and with the renowned drummer Peter Sadlo in Munich.
