Violist Nils Mönkemeyer Becomes Exclusive Artist at SonyBMG Classical

After his debut CD with the Leipzig label GENUIN, Nils Mönkemeyer’s second CD “Ohne Worte” (Without Words) has now been issued by Sony BMG Classical. It is especially gratifying that the recording sessions – as with his first CD – were led by a sound engineer from GENUIN.

Nils Mönkemeyer, 30 years old, first prize winner at the Yuri Bashmet Competition and the German Music Competition, as well as guest artist at important festivals and orchestras, is one of the outstanding violists of the up-and-coming generation. Starting in October 2009, he will teach at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden as Professor of Viola. A “great future is predicted” (Yuri Bashmet) for the Sony exclusive artist.
