The German Phono Academy, the cultural institute of the German recording business, is awarding the ECHO Classic this year already for the thirteenth time. This year's jury is honouring 51 prize winners in 21 categories. The renowned prize for the best recording in the category of "Chamber Music Recording of the Year" goes to the Artemis Quartet for their recording of the Beethoven Quartets, Op. 95 & 59/1 (EMI/Virgin Classics 545 7382).
The recording was made in July 2005 in the Jesus-Christus Kirche in Berlin/Dahlem by GENUIN Musikproduktion; the Tonmeister (sound engineer) was Michael Silberhorn.
