Vienna-born pianist Mitra Kotte has put together a cross-century programme entitled ‘Herstory’, which is dedicated exclusively to female composers. The piano virtuoso opens up a new musical world for the listener and presents inspiring and masterful works by, among others by Louise Farrenc, the first female professor at the Paris Conservatoire, Emilie Mayer, who was described as the ‘female Beethoven’, the first Croatian composer Dora Pejačević, Amy Beach, the first American woman to write the first symphony, and Nadja Boulanger, who taught composition to greats such as Bernstein and Copland and was also the first woman to conduct an American orchestra. Each piece has its very own cosmos, its own tonal and sound language, its own character corresponding to its time of origin, which Mitra Kotte expresses with verve and the highest technical level.
To mark International Women's Day on 8 March 2025, Mitra Kotte and GENUIN classics invite you to a concert at the Alte Schlosserei Leipzig.
