For the meandering and branching pathways of Leo Brouwer’s and Carlo Domeniconi’s music are of gossamer delicacy and endless variety—as subtly shaded and colorful as Stegmann’s guitar playing. Not only for guitar fans, but also for lovers of the music of the twentieth century who are searching for composers with their own life outlook and creative style outside the mainstream, there is much to be discovered here: from the short Brouwer miniatures lasting barely a minute to his Hommage to the great Takemitsu, all the way to the expansive Bach-inspired Chaconne by Domeniconi.
