After several years of studying the music of Leos Janácek, pianist Cathy Krier has created a new album of the Czech composer's rarely performed piano works. Janácek's music already contains the seeds of a completely new and unique language in the piano works, which the Luxembourg pianist is able to reveal. The album brings together the Moravian Folk Songs from 1922, Zdenka's Variations, the numerous Miniatures and Intimate Sketches, but also the well-known cycles Auf verwachsenem Pfade and Im Nebel as well as the Piano Sonata ‘1.X.1905’, from which she draws new perspectives. The result is an impressive overall view of the Moravian master, in which only a few youthful works are missing which, from Krier's point of view, are at best of musical-historical interest.
