Desire, adventure, loneliness, and darkness: the night holds all this for the insightful pianist Eva Barta. On her new GENUIN CD, she has compiled a program of intimate and poetic literature, ranging from well-known and popular pieces such as Debussy's "Clair de Lune" and Rachmaninoff's "Préludes" to exciting discoveries by Weill and Bartók and lieder by Schönberg and Sibelius. Eva Barta herself has transcribed the selected art songs for piano and incorporates her extensive experience in lied interpretation into these expressive, differentiated first recordings.

Fono Forum
"The selection is not only coherent, but is also cultivated and celebrated by the pianist with inner conviction. [...] This album will get you through the hours of the night - brooding, with scattered thoughts or in silence." Review by Michael Kube, July 2024 issue

MusicWeb International
"She brings plenty of character and vibrant rhythm to Bartók’s first Romanian Dance and his Evening in Transylvania, Barta’s homeland, and her tonal sense in the Schönberg transcriptions is wonderful, from the limpid depiction of water and moonlight to the ache and yearning in Schenk mir deinen goldenen Kamm." Review by Rob Challinor, June 24, 2024

PIANIST
"Eva Barta's playing has both power and natural grace and can draw on a multitude of intermediate colours and dynamic nuances - which is a great asset for a concept album with great atmospheric density." Review published in 2/2024 issue

PianoNews
"Passionate charms are sparked in the Prélude in G minor, and powerful bell chords ring through Rachmaninov's Prélude in C sharp minor. [...] Eva Barta has skilfully combined longing and Alpmahr, slumber and fantasies of pleasure into a programme worth listening to for night owls." Review by Hans-Dieter Grünefeld, issue 3/2024 (May/June)

Austria Presse Agentur
"An atmospheric journey through the night!" April 11, 2024
