Straddling the fine line between so-called classical music and jazz is an award-winning duo on their new GENUIN CD. Violinist Matthias Well and pianist Lilian Akopova present syncopated, blue note-soaked sounds by Astor Piazzolla, Maurice Ravel, and George Gershwin, as well as two spectacular pieces of recent date: Alexander Rosenblatt's virtuosic Carmen Fantasy and Vladislav Cojocaru's at first melancholy, later groovy Kaleidoscope. Dedicated to Akopova and Well, it is recorded here for the first time. A CD full of creativity and color, perfect for fighting the autumn blues!

American Record Guide
"When they finally relax in Piazzolla, the
effect is poignant. Somewhere deep inside I feel a tear forming. I want to linger there
awhile ..." Review by Ned Kellenberger in American Record Guide, March 13 2023

NDR Kultur
On November 2, 2022 Matthias Well and Lilian Akopova were guests on NDR Kultur à la carte EXTRA from 7 to 8 p.m. and presented Jazzissimo in a live studio concert.

Das Orchester
"Bravissimo"
Review by Werner Stiefele in das Orchester, 05/2023

Klassik Heute
"Above all, the extensive glissandi and bending effects show that for this musician it only gets really exciting beyond fixed pitches. He is reinforced by the powerful piano playing of Lilian Akopova, so that this music also neatly "swings" and grooves when it needs to."
Review by Stefan Pieper in Klassik Heute of January 5, 2023

Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung
"Rousing: it's certainly one of the most entertaining and vital chamber music albums of the season that German violinist Matthias Well and the Ukrainian pianist have put together under the title Jazzissimo."
