2015 marked the first year a double bassist won Germany’s National Music Competition, one of the world’s most renowned instrumental competitions. Wies de Boevé convinced the audience and jury alike with his passionate and polished playing, presented here for the first time on a GENUIN release. With his piano partner Tomoko Takahashi, the newly appointed Assistant Solo Double Bassist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra performs virtuoso double bass literature by Glière, Bottesini, Jongen, Hauta-aho, and Piazzolla. And these miniature gems flow so beautifully from the loudspeakers that we don’t even notice whether the tones are high or low, simply enjoying every moment…
