When a CD includes three piano trios from three stylistic periods, this usually isn’t anything out of the ordinary. But when two of the works are world premiere recordings, we look twice. With TrioSono, three leading musicians from eastern Germany (members of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and Dresden Staatskapelle) have joined together, presenting their GENUIN debut CD with works by Joseph Haydn, Friedrich Schneider, and August Klughardt. And the recently-rediscovered trios of the latter two composers are played so naturally, beautifully, and sensitively that they seem to be age-old staples of the repertoire. Musical discoverers will be delighted by these remarkable chamber works.
