"The singer remains silent ...": that's what one could think about a CD for solo piano. But this is far from being the case: he sings only in the silence, in our heads, in the wonderful sound of the historical fortepiano of Els Biesemans. Now, after her highly praised GENUIN debut (Fanny Hensel, The Year), she is now presenting a CD with rare Liszt piano transcriptions. Schubert, Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Chopin, including the complete Winterreise and Auf Flügeln des Gesanges (On Wings of Song). Each song is more beautiful than the last: dreamy, murmuring, searching in refined interpretations with a floating sound. This is the essence of romanticism, so to speak ...

Fanfare
"Biesemans plays with a delicacy and passion, extracting all the nuances from the music and demonstrating her expressive range in the works of the three composers. This is a most attractive package and a memorable addition to everyone’s collection of 19th-century song. Highly recommended!"

Utmisol
"Els Biesemans joue avec un très grand talent. Elle maîtrise à merveille l’esprit des trois compositeurs d’origine en intégrant bien l’apport de Liszt.... Il faut lui souhaiter une distribution autre que confidentielle en raison de la sensibilité de l’interprète au toucher subtil et harmonieux. Espérons que d’autres enregistrements suivront… "

The Classical Reviewer
"The recording is extremely good and Els Biesemans provides the excellent booklet notes on the music and the instrument."

Blogcriotics
"Els Biesemans‘s newest CD brings multiple pleasures. There is the combination of sensitivity and panache in Biesemans’ playing. The album succeeds on multiple levels, but its greatest pleasure may lie in the evident joy the keyboardist takes in her keyboard."
Review on Blogcriotics Magazine by Jon Sobel, January 15, 2015

Early Music Today
"Biesemans plays superbly in these arrangements of 25 songs (...) I'd say that disc is far and away the most thrilling recording of one that I've heard in a long while."
