Duo FourTe
Piano
The piano duo Duo FourTe was founded in 2014 in Weimar. Their name combines the English word “four” (representing the four hands) and the Japanese word “te” (meaning “hand”). In the years following their formation, the duo garnered multiple accolades, including 1st Prize at the ISCHIA – International Piano Competition, Italy, 1st Prize and the CMF Prize at the Concours Musical de France, 1st Prize in the “Four Hands” category at the Padova International Music Competition in Italy, and 2nd Prize in the “Piano Duo” category at the Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Turin, Italy.
Both pianists were selected as scholars at the Internationale Sommerakademie Salzburg at the Mozarteum and the Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes in Israel, where they completed the program with an Excellence Certificate. These masterclasses were pivotal in shaping their artistic development, with instructors such as Joseph Paratore, the piano duo Yuval Admony and Tami Kanazawa, and Aquiles Delle-Vigne playing significant roles in their growth.
The duo has performed at renowned festivals, including the Piano Duo Festival in Bad Herrenalb, the Cap Ferret Music Festival in France, and the International Piano Fest in Subotica, Serbia.
Their artistic versatility and dedication were evident in their music video productions during the lockdown, as well as their involvement in projects such as “Canto Ostinato” at the Playground Festival and their role as Artists in Residence at the Young Artists Festival Bayreuth.
During this period, the duo was awarded multiple grants for various projects, including funding from the German Music Fund and the Thuringian Cultural Foundation in 2021 and 2022. These grants facilitated the premiere of the Poco a poco cycle by Jürgen Kupfer and supported their research and recording of Franz Liszt’s Symphonic Poems.
The duo is deeply committed to cultural exchange, exemplified by their concert tours in Japan and outreach activities with children at Japanese schools Currently, they are represented by the agency “Weltklassik am Klavier.”
