Harpsichordist and organist Raphael Alpermann has been a member of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin since its founding in 1982 and is a member of the Berliner Barock Solisten. He has appeared as soloist with these ensembles many times. In 1995 he gave his debut performance with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Claudio Abbado in a program of music by J. S. Bach, and subsequently performed with Sir Simon Rattle, Seiji Ozawa and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Concert tours to five continents and well over 100 CDs, some of which won notable prizes, testify to his artistry. He conducted Monteverdi‘s Poppea, and has performed large-scale oratorios, including the Christus Oratorio combining works by Bach about the life of Christ specially arranged by Alpermann for the Leipzig Bach Festival in 2013. He initiated a concert series in Berlin in 2010 with a focus on the cantatas of J. S. Bach.
