Frank Braley, born in 1968, is one of the most celebrated pianists of his generation, known for his exceptional musical and poetic sensibilities. He began his piano studies at the age of four and, by the age of ten, was performing with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France at Salle Pleyel in Paris. In 1991, at just 22 years old, Frank Braley won the First Grand Prize at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Competition in Belgium, marking the start of a remarkable international career.
Since then, Frank Braley has been regularly invited to Japan, Canada, the United States, and all over Europe and has performed with major orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Orchestre de Paris, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Boston Symphony Orchestra under the batons of renowned conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Kurt Masur, Antonio Pappano and Charles Dutoit. He is also a prolific chamber musician, collaborating with artists such as Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Steven Isserlis, Paul Meyer and Augustin Dumay.
Frank Braley’s extensive discography includes critically acclaimed recordings of Beethoven, Schubert, Richard Strauss, Ravel and Gershwin, many of which have earned top accolades, including the Diapason d’Or. His recent releases feature Beethoven’s complete Cello Sonatas and piano trios with the Capuçon brothers. His recent Reynaldo Hahn – Le Ruban Dénoué Album with Eric le Sage got the Diapason d’Or of the Year 2024, and his Chausson-Lekeu album with Gabriel le Magadure and the Quatuor Agate was Gramophone Magazine editor’s choice in 2024.
In addition to his performing career, Frank Braley teaches at the Paris Conservatory and served as Music Director of the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie from 2014 to 2020.
